The DigRealtime Dashboard Studio is a thin WYSIWYG HTML5 client where you can build and modify data visualization dashboards with ease. Dashboards change over time, both in their underlying data and their presentation, and Dashboard Studio reflects that. First by letting you see your data update in real time, secondly by letting you change and build dashboards on the fly, without the need to be a programming or database guru.
Dashboard Studio consists of a few different components that together make for the real time data visualization that you see in your browser. It’s good to have a mental image of how these parts fit together to understand the application properly. First and foremost, there’s the front-end – the browser client, which is what we refer to when we say Dashboard Studio.
Secondly, there’s ScreamDB. ScreamDB is a C++ application that is optimized for retrieving and processing database queries, it’s what enables Dashboard Studio to deal with such large amounts of data so quickly. You normally wouldn’t configure ScreamDB directly, but instead use our ETL Data Tool to interact with ScreamDB.
The ETL Data Tool is a standalone client where you can configure data sources and data listeners. The data sources are the ones you see in the main menu in Dashboard Studio, and the data listeners are database queries that are executed against specified databases at specified intervals and checks whether there’s new data. If there is, Data Tool will instruct ScreamDB to retrieve it, and in turn, ScreamDB will process it and pass it along to Dashboard Studio as necessary.
